Scratch Messiah

A Heart for Duns organised a “scratch” performance of Handel’s famous oratorio, Messiah, to mark the 120th anniversary of the opening of the Volunteer Hall.

Over 100 singers from Duns and further afield were joined by professional soloists and musicians, led by Greg Batsleer, chorus director of the Scottish Chamber Orchestra.

An evening public performance of the oratorio was held on 8 February 2015, just as the people of Duns chose to mark the opening of the Volunteer Hall in February 1895. Click here for John McEwan’s review of the performance, which was published in The Berwickshire News.
