October films at the Volunteer Hall

Duns Film Club will continue its ‘Celtic Connections’ season on Sunday 13 October:

4.00pm Hell or High Water (2016)
Scottish director David Mackenzie’s location for Hell or High Water is Texas, and the story follows two brothers, played by Chris Pine and Ben Foster, who decide as a last resort to carry out a series of bank robberies in an effort to save their family’s ranch from foreclosure. They are pursued by two Texas Rangers, played by Jeff Bridges and Gil Birmingham. The film received four Oscar nominations, including best picture, best supporting actor (Bridges) and best screenplay. Run time 112 mins. Duns Community Cinema will show two recent releases on Friday 18 October:

5.30pm  The Angry Birds Movie 2
Comedy sequel in which Red, Chuck, and Bomb are forced to team up with Leonard and the rest of the pigs when an advanced weapon threatens both Bird Island and Piggy Island. Run time 97 minutes (U).

8.00pm Downton Abbey
The continuing saga of the Crawley family and the servants who work for them in the English countryside in the early 20th century. The film is set in 1927 and features a royal visit to Downton Abbey by King George V and Queen Mary. Run time 122 minutes (PG).
