A state-of-the-art noticeboard for Duns is among the projects in the public vote for Scottish Borders Council’s Berwickshire Localities Bid Fund. A Heart for Duns has asked for £5,240 to refurbish the weather-beaten three-sided information board in the Market Square. We’ve been successful in getting through to the second round, and we’re now asking everyone to vote for us.
The project will create a Duns Information Exchange, designed to showcase what the town has to offer, both to the local community and to visitors. Initial plans are to include information on events and activities, local amenities and businesses, festivals and civic occasions, and some relevant public information and notices. The revamped structure will have solar power for LED lighting and be enabled for wi-fi usage. A Heart for Duns and Duns Community Council will take on the maintenance and management of the site, with a long-term commitment to populate it with fresh and accurate information.
Voting opens on 16 May and continues until 5 June. Voters need to register as part of the process, which can be done online at the Localities Bid Fund website. Registration is now open, so please encourage all your family and friends to register and be ready to vote for the Duns Information Exchange.
